Speer ready for another dirt ARCA race

Tyler Speer will hit the one-mile oval dirt track for the third time for the Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. The Woodstock, Georgia native scored his first top 10 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards finish at last year’s race. “I’m eager to get back to Springfield, especially after our performance last year,” Speer said. “We will be bringing back the same car we ran last year with a few new ideas to try in practice.”
Sunday’s race will be the first of the season on a dirt track for the series, which for decades has run on a diverse set of tracks, from short tracks to dirt and road courses to superspeedways. ARCA is in the midst of a four-race stretch, in fact, the encompasses all four races.
Speer started 16th last year and fell behind on the last restart, before rebounding to the top 10. A full-time student at Kennesaw State University, he is on track to graduate in December with a major in sales and minor in finance. Speer’s diverse racing experience ranges from go-karts to Allison Legacy Series to street stock, late models, paved oval, dirt track, and road course events. This will be the tenth dirt track race and the seventh ARCA race for the 22-year-old.
Speer will be running the No. 10 car sponsored by Southern Marine, Mallory Marine, Proboat, R. Wilson Contracting, Headman Headers, Axcel, and Mac & Marilyn Bennett. Mallory Marine offers thousands of service parts for every major engine and drive system on inboards, stern drives, and outboards.
Qualifying for the Allen Crowe 100 will begin at 11 a.m. CT ad the race will start at 1 p.m. August 18. Live timing and scoring and an audio call via the ARCA Racing Network will be available on arcaracing.com. The race will also air on NBC Sports Network at 11 p.m. August 23.
